Weekly Weigh-in Results
Another fairly straightforward week and I am happy to report a 1lb weight loss! Woop Woop!
What happened this week
As I’ve mentioned above it’s been a pretty simple week as I’ve been in control of most of my meals. There have been some temptations, in the form of birthday cakes at work, and I can’t pretend I’ve been a complete saint. However, I managed to pull things back into line by eating low SmartPoint meals.
So far I have managed to lose 11 lbs over the last 10 weeks. That’s a pretty healthy average of 1 lb per week. I was speaking to my Mum (she’s also following the Weight Watchers plan) and she has seen a similar rate of weight loss.
Two journeys, two different views
What I find interesting, however, is that she was a little disappointed with this as she was hoping to have lost more by now. whereas I, on the other hand, am quite satisfied with the amount I have lost.
She’s been finding the plan quite easy this time around (she too suffered from a loss of mojo and has had a tough time getting it back) she’s eating well, sticking within her SmartPoints limits and has even had several days a week where she has had some points roll over. This is why she’s disappointed not to see a bigger weight loss.
Managing expectations
To be honest, it can be quite hard when your weight loss hopes and expectations don’t match up to reality. Especially when you see other people not being quite so good as you and achieving the same results.
I know it is difficult but if you are in this position you really must try not to compare your weight loss efforts with anyone else. We are all different, no two journeys are exactly alike. There are so many factors that can affect our weight loss efforts including age; levels of activity; even the amount of stress you’re under at work can have an affect!
Celebrate your achievements
Instead of getting bogged down by not being as far along your weight loss journey as you had perhaps hoped for, you need to take time to celebrate ALL of your achievements, the big and the small.
Sometimes even having a “stayed the same” week can be a win, celebrate that win!
Do you find you compare your weight loss efforts to others? If so turn it around, think about your week – what wins could you celebrate this week?
Have a good week
