Weekly Weigh-in Results
After joining Weight Watchers last week I have to say that this week felt a lot like another week 2. However, I am relieved and pleased to report that I lost 1.5lbs! Huzzah!
What happened this week
As I mentioned above, this week has been another tough week. I got all fired up with enthusiasm in the first week on the Weight Watchers plan only to suffer a major dip in enthusiasm in the second week. I doubt I’m alone in this and I also think it’s pretty normal.
When we’ve been used to stuffing our faces with whatever takes our fancy, whenever it takes our fancy it is going to be a huge adjustment learning to say no and finding other, healthier ways to feel full.
The ‘F*** it’ mentality
I can’t count the number of times I have ‘started again’ only to give up after week 2. Sometimes the effort required to push through into week three can be too much and the old f*** it mentality comes rushing in. You know what I mean right? That moment when you’re hungry, tired, stressed or all three and you have something super tempting put in front of you and there’s that pause….
you think about it for a couple of seconds…..
and then you go….
“f*** it, I’ll start again tomorrow” and you end up eating everything in sight!
Oh, and that “tomorrow”? that usually ends up being weeks, months or sometimes even years later!
Unfortunately, the ‘f*** it’ mentality is going to surface now and again and it is what we do AFTERWARDS that is going to determine whether or not we succeed. Instead of beating ourselves up for it, we need to forgive ourselves and keep going. I won’t pretend that it’s not going to be tough because it IS tough but now is when we need to remind ourselves of why we’re losing weight so that we can rebuild our enthusiasm.
Even if it’s only enough enthusiasm to see us through the next day.
How I coped
Ok this is going to sound ridiculous but I looked at my list of reasons for losing weight, picked the most important one for me and chanted it under my breath every time I was tempted to eat more than I should.
No doubt the people around me thought I’d gone mad, muttering over the plates of sweet offerings in the office kitchen but hey, it worked, I managed to keep within my plan for the rest of the week and had a positive result for my weekly weigh-in.
What challenges have you faced this week? Let me know in the comments as I’d love to hear from you.
Have a good week!
